Greenpeace - White is the new Green

White is the new green!

The signs are all around us: the worlds environment is changing and it is affecting not only our lives as humans, but also our amazing natural world which is being devastated at an alarming rate.

I spotted an inspirational article on Between 10 and 5 which shows how Greenpeace and Ogilvy Johannesburg have teamed up to spread their ‘White is the new Green’ campaign.

The message is simple – Painting the roof of your home white actually helps to reflect the heat of the suns rays, which in turns cools down the environment.

I found it very interesting that a single degree change in temperature in the world's cities could mean a massive 3 degree change at the poles.

If you think about how the Arctic animals are suffering at the moment, with their world literally melting around them, painting your roof is actually a very small thing to do to.

The campaign that Ogilvy Johannesburg has put together is very clever.
They show sections of your typical urban sprawl with their roofs painted white. The aerial shot then depicts one of the many Arctic animals whose lives are threatened more and more with each passing moment!

I love how that even in the urban squalor (which is the product of mans inability to live in unison with his surroundings) it is still possible to get involved and fight against Global Warming.

Generations of humans are responsible for the Arctic’s rapid deterioration/pollution.
We need to step up and become better people and help save our world and the beautiful creatures within it.

Check out the original Between 10 and 5 posting.

In the “SPIRIT” of eco-awesomeness, which Greenpeace inspires so easily, I will leave you with our latest ‘natural design’ here at Springleap.com.
The amazingly beautiful Spirits of the Forest by design master Sebasebi really makes me wanna get out there and plant some indigenous trees….and of course paint my roof white!

One last shout out to the insanely powerful Ogilvy Johannesburg team for such a solid campaign.
Brilliant!!!

White is the new Green…SHOUT IT OUT LOUD!
