I know what it feels to think “OMG – this idea is going to blow people’s socks off”. And so I Google it. And Google it some more (web and images) and find that it’s already been done. And that my take on it would not have been sufficiently different. So, I don’t go there.

For instance, the Wii was just crying out to be turned into Wiid, with a big fat skyf, but it’s been done. Several times.

So, basically, do your research, especially when you’re doing a spoof of a brand. It saves tons of awkwardness later on… and you could say upfront, “Yeah, it’s been done before, but THIS is what I did with it”.

And I believe that not even the artists among us are immune to borrowing liberally from someone else’s style – there is, after all, nothing new under the sun. And they’ve been saying THAT for 2 000 years!
