Well I have seen a lemon charge a light bulb. And I heard a rumor that mensa is having tryouts sometme this year. Integral and brigand, lets enter a team, with the stuff we know and the people we have assasinated (that is another story, we dont talk about it) we could be in there. I mean think of the benefits, I heard mensa memebers get 10% discount from Exclusive books, and get hydrogetn engines to test out. So let me hear your views…

And this design is just not very PC, especially for South Africa – it inspires nothing, hatered maybe, but nothing more….

Your interpretation is understandable but it is not the intent. I’m sorry that this has offended you, but to state that this is racist is reactionary at the least. Is there no other interpratation but yours?
I do not live in South Africa but i can understand sensitivity to a subject as serious as racism within your country.
I drew this image. I stand by it.
To me its about the faceless silent majority. Whom think there lives are happy, sweet, and harmless but care nothing about the world around them. They are faceless, not “black-faced”.
I hope some out there understand this as my intention. To those offended, i am sorry to have upset you, but not sorry about the image.

Well, like your illustration style in a way, but just don’t think it works on a tee though.

I agree with berrijuse, the way you’ve done this is in very poor taste, you should have thought about the effects this kind of design would have, their are a million other subjects you can design on and you chose this one, i fail to believe that this was’nt your intent, it seems so ignorant to not think about the way this was designed, however as you say your not from South Africa so i suppose you wouldnt grasp the gravity of such a statement.

This is great… Discussion is always good. I appreciate all the feedback that the design is getting and i’m glad that this is raising these ideas because they should be talked about.
I find it interesting to see how people each are interpreting the image above and i love the challenge to my own ideas that it causes. It makes me think about what my ideas are about and why i draw them.
This was made to be a drawing. Then i decided to put it on a shirt and try out this tee shirt contest. I understand people that wouldn’t like this as a t-shirt, thats fine.
I hope that some people think about “why” this offends them and what it could mean about them?
I also feel that there is a level of ambiguity to this piece that allows for projection and different interpretations that can take the viewer to many different conclusions and i love that. It creates this sort of dialoge.
I could care less about “poor taste” but racism is something i do care about and if this tee gets people taking about that then i feel like i’ve done something important.

This is all about putting the heart back in art. We want people to remember that a person – not a big fashion machine – made this wonderful work, and it allows them to step one step closer to the mind and soul of this wonderful person who created such an awesome piece of delightenment.
