70’s retro vibe with a 08 spin

I’d love to see this resubmitted with the feedback from the members taken into consideration…this def has potential to be a winner Dusty.

I know what it is. Its the purple lady in the middle. I think she’s too close to the t-shirt colour. SHE needs to be like a bright colour, or the shirt colour should be different. THAT’S what irks me. Even if all the ladies were like, green or orange or something. Its because the middle lady is a cool colour in amongst all these bright colours. Anyways. Rock on, as I say. Or maybe she should be shades of cherry, and the ice-cream truck ould be shades of purple.

Know what, I’m gonna be honest here and say that although your design elements are nice, it still doesn’t come together for me. I think you could have just had one central girl with the ice-cream truck, or maybe just one shirt with the girl by herself…I actually would have preferred just the truck, I think it looks cool on its own…maybe its just because the design is at maximum size on the shirt. Feels like it needs some negative space to breathe…or maybe because the colours don’t sit comfortably together. I dunno. I would have tried to put an overall colour over the whole design with colour blending mode enabled just to bring everything back together. I can see you’re going for bright primaries. Maybe instead of orange you could have gone with yellow to really stretch them out? They either need to be brought closer together, or stretched further out, is my feeling. At the moment they’re in the middle. On second thoughts, composition is fine, maybe a little smaller, I think its the colour that’s bugging me. In any case, rock on.

DUDE!!! how are the colours working? trying to figure it out but i’m too confused. percentages used in a really fine halftone effect? or just tints of the base colour? the illy is rad guy! but Duncan is so right. that ice-cream truck is definitely the best! especially the corrigated awning thing… ok yeah i’m weird.

Personally not my scene when it come to design content…however I think I love the ice cream truck more than anything else, its awesome :)

Difficult shirt colour to design on. Good design duder, but I’d feel a bit ‘valie at the beach’ wearing it.

@ King C — I appreciate your constructive crits, and appreciate your honesty..I’ll post some alt colors (just for shits and giggles) and if we dont make it for Nov. I will resubmit the colors that get the biggest response!

This is a very hippy like T for me last month you did well this just doesn’t cut it for me.

@ Eric, I am humbled that it allowed your mind to battle with itself a little bit. I also battled myslef with the colors, I know the composition works, but you know I like to live on the edge of color!

@Mikdog! thanks for the comments. I usually always show off an original mockup, sometimes it totally finalizes designs in my eye, sometimes a digital doesn’t allow me to see how it would work on a body.

I like how you included a real shirt preview in the picture. Not my scene though, reminds me of Reader’s Digest, but I know a buddy or two who would wear it. Nice comments ;)

as a picture i love it. i like the way the colours work. i really like the fading into the white on the bottom left corner of the design.

so as a painting, i think it looks really good.

but would i buy it to wear as a tshirt. unfortunately, i don’t see myself wearing it, and would i buy it as a present for someone else to wear. i’m not sure – i’ll have to think about it more.

that’s the great thing about a work of art though – it makes you think. and this design definitely has achieved that

Hey thanks Duncan and Googs! I have been really working on my “style” I guess, I am starting to become a color and texture whore. Hope that is showing through in my designs!

I’d get this for my brother for just a laugh. Ha ha ha. My kind of shirt. Don’t think the shades of blue are necessary, black and one shade of blue would’ve sufficed, but hey. Crazy, man. Maybe if the text was at the top of the shirt? Ha ha. This is crazy man! If someone gave it to me as a present, I’d wear it around the house. It’d be my ‘chilling’ shirt. Then my brother would probably swipe it.

I’ve come back to look at this quite a bit now, I love the style of illy. But I don’t think I would wear it, maybe if it was a white T.
I don’t really think it should be judged negative just because its a template of africa.
This country isn’t all good you know. We have our wars and refugees, dead and homeless from governments driven by corruption and money all the same.
But then we also have our greater side. so don’t get me wrong…

I wanted to send a message…...see there are two sides to every story! depends what side you wanna be in! negative_positive…..I do feel angry toward people who do wrong to others….very angry you read about….what do you do about! not saying wearing this tee is goin to change anything but it did already if i read all your comments can see africa has affected you in some way….and got a response sometimes negative response can be positive!!!.....thanks anyway next time ill make a positive africa tee…..hows that?

Like I said, I like the illy style, thats very cool. I just would not wear such a negative tee. Sometimes it helps to focus on the positive and move from there.

nice illi style. the message is clear, “Africa and many of it’s countries is still a killing ground.” You just have to turn on the news and see the suffering in many so called democratic African republics. Human suffering is evil. It’s the kinda t-shirt that could start some debate about Africa and it’s woes and our current political climate.
