don’t know much about Foucault’s normalisation strategies. interesting, just found this on google about Foucault: Baudelaire is of interest as a modern figure insofar as he displays “the asceticism of the dandy who makes of his body, his behavior, his feelings and his passions, his very existence, a work of art”. As the paradigmatic modern individual, the dandy is “the man who tries to invent himself” “To be modern is not to accept oneself as one is the flux of passing moments; it is to make oneself as object of a complex and difficult celebration” – i.e., as a work of art.
