Straight from the Designers fingers

My travels over South Africa during the holidays brought me to various different towns, all with one common thread, the shanty towns. And i couldnt help but laugh as i saw, these elaborate tin homes with satellite dishes. And as if a comment on Eskom’s new proposed fee increase, the stolen electricity lines going from shack to robot and shack to shack. It seemed to wonderfully South African.

@pixiejax I’ve seen those satellites on informal settlements and i think its a great concept for a design although the concept doesnt jump out at you if you don’t have the read out.

@WoooowieMrMan yes we could do with some more constructive crits for the benefit of the improvement of design overall. But right now your attitude stinks.
Go blow off some steam at the gym not at our designers

Qimstudio has cleverly began pre-submitting his work onto a blog post to get crits and improve his work BEFORE he submits.
I think this is an awesome space to help designers improve their work where necessary.

heres one of these crit posts

I am totally entertained! Thanks guys you just made my morning!
Such passion! And little Pixiejax has not said a word … maybe better for her to keep her hands clean on this one.

I personally really LIKE IT!!!

Oi I am going to get it now (run for cover)

Have you seen guys the Tee shirts ‘Esempoweni’s (cant spell) that Tee was such a hit, every where I go people comment and think its great, black, white, pink or purple!!

Controversial and edgy is what people want out of a unique Tee and not just plain old boring JANE.

Phew, so take that WoooowieMrMan ;)

WoooowieMrMan Explaining exactly why I loathe or want to hump the design in question. This would most probably be for the best. All this blathering about having opinions is such a waste… Say what you mean, don’t be mean in what you say. You can be critical AND respectful/tactful, try it! :)

ROFL. Perhaps I crave attention, perhaps my TiVo account was not paid and I am now bored. Dotnot, I do not design mostly because they would be rubbish. Personally, I think that that is a good life choice. The world is a better place, quite frankly.

HAHAHAHA (AVATAR (capitalized because it is like that on the Coca Cola can, but with the correct spelling, sure genius.) was (great/rubbish/mediocre). I have never made a movie and probably never will. If I did it may be amazing or it may be terrible most likely the latter. I think that it is quite safe in assuming that no one on this site has made a feature film either, yet it is acceptable to judge movies. The world is a better place because of criticism. In the real world people don’t care what you think (they also don’t care about what I think, which is good).

This is the Internet. If I was banned and I felt like posting again I would just create another account.

Pixiejax, isn’t this great that your page is getting so much press? Hmmm, perhaps I am Pixiejax?

There is basically no criticism on this site, which is bothering. Dare I propose that Springleap would like stunning designs so that they can make money, after all this is what it is all about. Constructive criticism is good. No or fluffy criticism is not. What do you think when you see a useless design? You think no, I hate it. You think, “OMFGz, what were they thinking?”. Then you click on 1 and do not express yourself. Why? I would really like to understand. If I did something which was not great, I would like to know not just that it was not great but what people felt about it.

On the contrary, Rambo scenes would benefit people whom would want to see Rambo scenes. These would include: Rambo thinking about how to better face stab; movie makers; Rambo fans and Doctors.

I don’t know what goes into designs like these apart, perhaps, from using CS4 (see what I did? I used some ‘industry’ jargon to make it sound like I know what is going on. Also note that I discovered formatting, hope that it works, please please please).

On your last comment: yes, it is a complicated connection Rambo <=> Said correct interpretation. I have a solution though: CLICK FOR SOLUTION take a dosage of /b daily and enlightenment will rain down on you.

I am glad that this has stimulated conversation. To stop a flame war, in future, if anyone wants a reply I will reply with less sarcasm and try to be more constructive. Explaining exactly why I loathe or want to hump the design in question.

Okay, I was restraining myself and trying my best not to entertain WoooowieMrMan, because frankly I think this whole personal vendetta of his, is just some angry contestant who created a double account so he could say what he really meant, without it affecting his future votes. The comments section on this site, I feel should be used for constructive criticism. Not for personal blathering. Honestly I see no way how imagining Rambo scenes could benefit ANYONE. Now, I know people like you. You strive on conflict, and you say things to get reaction out of people. And I know that if someone with authority were to grab you by the balls and suspend your account, you would scream ‘freedom of speech’, however it’s people like you, who attack people on a personal level on sites like these, that moderators are made for. You CLEARLY have ABSOLUTELY no idea of what goes into a design project like the above. Saying someone didn’t put enough effort into something like this, makes it so transparent of your lack of knowledge design-wise. And to be honest, how on EARTH do you make the connection between:
“I hate you. I wish that you were the guy whom Rambo stabbed in the face.”
AND “Pixiejax, your T-shirt mocks poor people and has nothing to do with soccer. That is why I dont like it. I do like the actual design, but feel too little effort went into it.” See I absolutely can not BELIEVE that you are such a poor communicator that EVERYONE just got you wrong. I think you are just one jealous sad patronizing ASSHAT that should be banned from this site. sigh P.S. I’m wondering If I should post this, and give you the satisfaction and attention that you so crave. Damned if I do, Damned if I don’t…

IAmSam, I understand that it may seem that I am just flaming people because I come from a dysfunctional home. However, I think that you may be mistaken. Not every person on the internet comes from one. Strange, I know. Let me elaborate. I could have said: “Gee, the effort that went into this shirt was phenomenal. Great effort!”, but then I would be lying. I am not into Hippy feel good nonsense. If there were a reasonable number of comments which were critical in a constructive way and had a good objective view, then I may have been less annoyed and not posted in a hateful manner. I felt that it was necessary to even things out. These designs are supposed to be for a competition.

IAmSam, I think that there is a chance that you are not the psychologist which you think that you are otherwise you would have understood that my comment meant: Pixiejax, your T-shirt mocks poor people and has nothing to do with soccer. That is why I dont like it. I do like the actual design, but feel too little effort went into it.

WoooowieMrMan… After reading your posts today,I’m gonna go ahead and guess that either you were beaten up alot at school, or you weren’t hugged enough as a young… whatever you are.

I see you don’t have any designs yourself so maybe untill you man up and start posting your OWN designs for everyone to look at, maybe you should save the “advice“ for another website.

Very nice Saffa style. Its unfortunate that its not really closer to the design brief though. Great to see your work as always Pixiejax.
