Title:
South African

I love the design of the South flag, as it is so angular in design. I am also proudly South African too. I got thinking if I could incorporate the hard edge design of the flag with a simple shape of a heart.
I like the way the logo looks, very balanced. The colors I think are also wow. The logo fits with that old saying “wear your heart on you sleeve”. Go forth be proudly South African, besides all social ills, we live in the most beautiful, open, liberal country on earth. This statement sums up the design for me. Only issue I have is maybe the font.

Mikdog, I couldnt agree with you more. I am so tired of ‘Proudly South African’ stuff that reeks of TOURIST and that no sane designer could possibly relate to. I feel like the heart of South African culture has not been captured in any of our Tourist Hotspots. Its all African and I just feel no one has really put our colours/flag to good use. I agree that if you enlarged the heart and got rid of the obvious text, it would be more appealing. It would be cool to add some more detail and express the South African identity with truth and passion!

I dunno. I’m kinda tired of the whole cheap ‘n nasty ‘proudly south african’ card. irstly, it doesn’t appeal to my aesthetic sense, secondly, I wonder if I really am proudly South African, thirdly, I think there’s been a lot of cheap knock-offs with people hopping onto the bandwagon to make a quick buck (I used to do that a couple of years ago. Ouch) and fourthly…I dunno. Touristy? Apologies if you had good intentions. But I wonder if you really mean what you’re saying or if you’re playing the PSA angle? And my buddy is vehement in his belief that ‘WOW’ should never be used as an adjective, as in “The colors I think are also WOW”. And I’m going a bit off here, but if you’re proudly South African, why do you spell colours in the American way – ‘colors’? I think you could have even left the type out altogether and made the heart way bigger in the centre. That would’ve been cool. I can see its South African, no doubt about that, don’t need the text to point that out, and a full-on big print might have been cool. Schweet
