For those of you that are out of the loop Mike Scott is a name you better get used to hearing, not only talented but has a great sense of humor AND plays the drums! Woop woop! He recently created an amazing video for local music artists Goldfish, but first a little history lesson on Mike Scott and how it all started for him. He created a comic called Bru and Boegie . Initially both characters were white men in underpants a.k.a onnerbroekies he then later changed Boegie to a black man in undies. The first comic was released in 2002 while he was still at university with many others that followed. Mike Scott is known as Mikdog on Springleap.com, yes he is known for the infamous eSempowenis and Infinity t-shirt designs! When asked about what he thought about the success eSempowenis t-shirt design has had he said, “I can’t really enjoy it because its not a true original. Its based off of others’ hard work; people put a lot of effort into getting The Simpsons into popular culture and we daintily plugged an African theme on top of it.” He also rather humorously said that he thinks the success of the t-shirt is based on the fact that Homer is wearing blue overalls. Check out some other questions below: Why did you get into design? Chicks (and I) dig it. How long did the video take you to make? About 4 months, from thinking about it to completion. Some process material and the animatic: Do you have any funny (or horrible) stories that occurred during this project? A guy went to see a Doctor regarding his hearing. The Doctor asked What were you doing 2 weeks from today? :) Eating. Any future projects you can tell me about? No. I mean, yes. I mean, no. Any highlights in your career that you just have to tell me about :) Having Soundtracks and Comebacks nominated for Best Music Video at mmmm lets see…what will you be doing in 5 years today? Sleeping
Now back to Goldfish, Mike has always been a huge fan of Goldfish so much so that after the success of Soundtracks and Comebacks they approached him to make a video for Fort Knox his natural reply was “yes please!” I really think EVERYONE should check out the video! |
