any idea if she has any colour preferences?…

But to be honest, no, if the person is that big and has that much exposure, wouldnt they want to HIRE a designer to do their tour merch?

You are right, Eric, great addition to a portfolio, but I meant in more of the lines of what LOUISE CARVER the CLIENT gets out of it…

IntegralApparel – why 3 tshirts? Also, for a designer that isn’t established already, designing the tshirt for someone as well known as Louise Carver is a pretty big moment and will get the person huge wads of exposure and credibility

don’t you think?

So in short, if this was way to drum up some buzz of her and springleap then its all good, but if she was looking for A HOT TEE to compliment her tour she might not be getting what she expected.

This is the exact reason spec work is looked down upon. The client, the designer, and the art of design all lose in the situation..

Just playing devils advocate and to drum up some discussion. But it seems that Ms Carver might not get exactly what shes looking for.

TAKEN FROM NO!SPEC.COM”
“At the end of the day, there is a certain irony in spec work. A prospect requesting it is ultimately saying, “My project isn’t important enough to hire a professional who will take the time to understand my situation and goals and invest the time needed to create a suitable solution.”
“Spec projects are often myopic. They tend to be “one-off” pieces that don’t fit and may erode a company’s overall branding efforts.”

And cd’s and tickets to her show, its more about getting behind a proudly South African artist,

It seems like designers are getting thr short end of the stick for this contest, I would do it if we got royalties from her tour sales, or they bought the winning design straight out, but thats a lot of work for 3 tees…
