Eat more Love – Food design

Did you ever wonder how the shape of food can actually tell a story?

Marije Vogelzang calls herself an ‘eating designer’ who is not only creating food designs by combining different shapes and colors, but more importantly, by looking at the content and background of the food as well.

All of her wonderful creations can actually tell a story, because there is always a lot of thinking behind her design process.

Over 10 years ago, when she was still a design academy student, she started experimenting with food in reference to funerals and funeral rituals.

I created a whole white funeral dinner made with naturally white food (white is the colour of death in many cultures). I found out that food is a fantastic material for me to work with, and the emotional importance of food wasn’t at that point being explored by designers and still isn’t to its full potential!”

During these years she was part of many amazing projects, always inventing new ideas to get people together and inspire them through food design. The people lucky enough to be eating her designs are always part of the experience, which could not be complete if they themselves did not eat the finished work and complete the artistic process.
