Embracing the Stereotype with Pieter-Dirk Uys

shoutOut on 21/5/09 by Dinxster in peeps

While wounded South Africa was struggling to overcome apartheid, Pieter-Dirk Uys kept the nation in stitches with his satirical comedy aimed at the government’s ridiculous racial policies.

Uys’s approach allowed people to turn their fear of the subject into *laughter*… and in 1994 when South Africa saw its first democratic election, it was plain to see that laughter really is the best medicine… or at least a good pass time for the previously suppressed minority.

Over a decade has gone by and society still manages to get a harmless giggle out of racial differences. I would love to see Pieter-Dirk Uys wearing the Springleap.com eSimpowenis T-shirt as a tribute to his awesome ability to embrace a stereotype.

Sure, Pieter uses stand-up comedy as his platform for expression. Springleap.com is a T-shirt design competition geared at providing anyone with an idea the platform for expression. Call to action? Use your graphic design skills to give a mouthpiece to your thoughts… and enter the trendy fashion industry while you do it!

Pieter -Dirk Uys is great and I don’t think he ages, if you is not allowed to do his stand up comedy then we know this country is in big trouble.

For now we can all breath a sigh of relief as we still have freedom of expression.

Thanks Pieter!
