Create your own memes!

“What the heck is a meme?” you may be asking.

Well, memes are in essence any form of media that is spread across the web from user to user via email or various socialmedia avenues. Memes are usually funny in nature and which are then imitated or re-invented by fans of the idea/concept. Hopefully I am making sense here!

You have probably seen these things a million times: the cute kitty with a garbled message, how about the guilty looking dog with text saying how somebody pooped in the hallway, but he doesn’t know who.
Anyway, there are thousands of memes circulating at any given moment.

Google+ has now decided to get in on the action, making it super easy for normal people to put together and share their own memes.

Senior software engineer for Google, Colin McMillen, says that the process is actually pretty simple.
All you really need to do is choose an image, drop it into your “share box” and then come up with some witty copy.

Follow these steps:

1 – Go to your Google+ home page, click on the image icon in your ‘Stream’ and then select the “add photos”, or alternatively drag-and-drop an image from your desktop.

2 – Once your image has loaded, select “add Text” link beneath the image itself.

3 – The Add Text window will pop open and now you can write your copy in the appropriate box – either ‘top’, ‘middle’, or ‘bottom’. Obviously this corresponds to where the text will appear.

4 – Your edited image will appear in your Stream – Now simply click share

See, easy as pie!

This is a smart move on Google+’s part. This new feature is loads of fun and will definitely create some serious community interaction.

Still at a loss about what a meme actually is?
Try checking out this posting I did on the Star Wars Windows meme, or perhaps Squidoo’s TOP 10 Internet Memes.

Prepare to LOL!
