Joy is Yummy

shoutOut on 14/1/10 by TheWheelerBrothers in

Well when I heard the theme was “Down the Rabbit Hole”, decided to take it at face value and go with the idea of all sorts of joy and happiness getting sucked down a rabbits hole…

I mean they cant just kinda throw all that cheery sunshine and fantastical sparkle out there! Its gotta come from something, some sort of fuel…
this is my depiction of a rabbit chowing down on all that joy and saving it up for later.

Pen sketch on the back of an old invoice (Did it at the vet i was working at… Don’t tell my boss!) then scanned it in and colored with Corel Painter IX.

This digital art thing is all very new to me still and I’m just stoked with what came out. Win or loose, my joy will only get better from here on.

Look forward to being an active member guys:)

there is something about that rabbit i REALLY like.. :-)it would have been cool to lose all that stuff around him and focus more on what is coming out of his mouth.. include more alice in wonderland type things.. like those ‘eat me’ sweets, spades and puffs of smoke.. i think it would have given the design alot more movement.

Some pretty crazy jazz here! JOY IS INDEED YUMMY!!! … and this t-shirt design has some really amazing joyful elements – ranging from _the smiley face _ and Sunflowers streaming into the bunny’s mouth to the cool frame.

Overall I would look at making the print much smaller tho.

The cloudes in the background also clash with the rest of the design style a bit.

I would also remove the “Rabbit “ word on top of the design. It’s clearly a Rabbit and it’s difficult with the design having too much text

This shows massive potential – Can’t wait to see what’s next! Welcome to Springleap – hope you enjoy your trip down the rabbit hole! Full of JOY and maximumly YUMMY

great use of colours and design. feels like they are way more than 7 colors here which is really cool. i might have lost the text through.

Yeah frame kills it for me Im afraid. Its a nice fun sketchy style though ;)

okay then…this contest was not to encourage designers to do drugs but apparently they need no encouragement. the design and the thought process behind it is kinda…out there?

Thanks Lokololly:) wasn planning on using a frame but i did the pen sketch on a piece of paper and the tornado went right into the corner. Didn have time to redraw the sketch as and my prowess on the computer isnt good enough to get it consistent and looking how i wanted it. So thought the frame was a good way to help it flow into the tee more you know?

I agree with you NormaJean now that you point it out. Im a sticker for using as much of the surface as possible and its a habbit i gotta work on. But i do also think that if springleap does silk screening or something similiar then it wouldn be to big but if its a transfer then yea, Def too big for that. Screening would still be ok in my eyes. I like attacking the surface. Its the common thread in all my stuffs:)

Oh and shot Lexi and Electrogirl. You guys rock socks!!!
