Lightning for the Pines

shoutOut on 2/8/08 by EranEyal in

This is the story of the Vajra – the protector of the pines.

He lives in the mountains and in the forests amongst the pines – illuminating the way for many a stranger, striking down those who threaten the pines.

Vajra is the Sanskrit word for “Lightning”

I enjoyed taking one unchanging item (the thunderbolt) and applying it in many different ways so that you get a series of images in the positive and negative spaces : Lighting bolts, Vajra, Mountains and Pine Trees.

The name “Lightning for the Pines” is a play on the phrase “can’t see the forest for the trees” – I thought this was apt since this design deals with exactly just that.

I had a really difficult time choosing between army green and earth brown.

This is another design in a series of experiments where I use a single created shape to play with positive and negative spaces. The microscopic is macroscopically definitive.

I have wanted to do this sort of design for a while and this is one of three so far that I have planned.

This is the second in a series with a style I have never tried before – 1 more to go ;)

not really sure… The idea is totally rad. I love the trees pines and lightning. just not sure it belongs on the browna and the image feels a bit unresolved.

But BRILLIANT idea – very STRIKING!!! BWAAHHAHA!!!

Give ur comments about my designs on my tee shoutback sections. The way i judge other designs isnt at all based on how i design, it’s about my opinion. Just like this section on the site is dedicated to giving your opinion. I am an adult by the way, this tee is just not my taste & I have stated that Antoine.

ah – you guys suck I totally dig this design.

Nice one Brigand. Not the BEST implementation by very cool concept and design.

Tay – no offence but your designs are really more for kids – this is much more an adult design.

Isn’t there a rule in not designing a similar design more than twice on different colour tee’s? We all make mistakes..

I wouldn’t advise the third one. The first one was OK, this one is not so OK, don’t do the third. You’ve seen the comments people post here, give the lightning bolts a rest and try something new!
