New competition format

shoutOut on 30/11/08 by EranEyal in wordUp

From the 1st January 2009, the main Springleap competition is now fortnightly rather than monthly.

The main change is that there is ONLY 1 WINNER every 2 weeks.

All the details are on the prize page.

If you have any questions ask below.

Guys I think since the competition has become every 2 weeks the standard has dropped in the artwork.
Sure ther is still some great designs but theres 1,2 or 3 before when it was monthly we had about 10-15 good ones that were a fight to the finish to win.

Umm..new to the site…How does a winner receive the prizes. Shipped prizes and wire transfers? how?

thanks in advanced.

Thanks Eric — Still trying to recover from this morning’s shock.
I look forward to future competitions & hopefully getting printed somewhere along the way.

lostHorizon – we’re DEFINATELY not mass printing. at the moment, we’re printing between 30 and 100 to start off with, and our printing costs are ASTRONOMICAL.

with the new method of 1 winner, we’re hoping to do a first run of up to 250, depending on how popular the tshirt is.

250 in the whole world, and even just for South Africa is a RIDICULOUSLY small number.

if we find that they are selling quickly, then we’ll launch a lot more competitions and perhaps start having more than 1 winner per competition.

killerminibus: no prob! :)

Tokkelos: Hmm..I see you wrote that comment before the results were in ;)
As far as I am concerned – your design – Heaven to Hades – was PERFECT – for girls or guys; any age group; as a design in itself & it works so well on a Tshirt…it would have sold a lot of T’s for SpringLeap…It is such a shame, for you as well as for SpringLeap, that it is not going to get printed for them. How many more designs as good as this might not get printed? …please let me know if you get printed elsewhere because I REALLY want a Tshirt with your design!!

Must say im pretty disappoited there’ll only be one winner every two weeks too… my favourite shirts from past winners were mostly not the number one fave but still awesome… but yeah, it does limit one’s chances of winning, and lessen my interest in buying shirts as i agree, i’d prefer a shirt that’s limited in stock, where im not gonna run into someone else with the same one… the 5 winners every 2 weeks sounds like a good idea to me… might be something for the springleap team to look into…

still wondering who won the first fortnight of January??

I missed a beat completely…I was so excited to come online this morning – see if I had a happy email in my in-box & order ‘HEAVEN TO HADES’ as it was my absolute fav. T from the last 2 weeks (and a lot of other people’s by the comments left)…only to discover this one winner thing….What a nasty surprise!! I’m totally disappointed with the re-structuring of the site… I totally agree with Tu (thanks Tu for all your comments) – I’d rather be printed than win more money…the thrill of maybe seeing someone in a T of my design & wearing my own design would be enough reward for me.

SpringLeap has been a little indulgence — I’ve spent a couple of days on one design to enter a month in the hope that I will be one of 20 — then one of 10…now one of ONE!(?) to be printed …I’ve spent time voting for all the designs & leaving comments etc. Is it worth playing for such bad odds. One in 5 every 2 weeks would even be better…

All the T’s I’ve ordered have not been the number one winners. I don’t think I’d like to order Tshirts that are being mass printed because of lack of variety – lack of options for the buyer. With the designers who enter being the main voters (I presume), the same(ish) people will be voting in every competition. This means that so it will be a design chosen of the majority designers taste & not necessarily the ‘buyer’s taste (unless the majority of designers are the buyers?)…
Will the votes honestly reflect the true buyers taste as everyone will be wanting their design to win? SpringLeap will become a cut-throat competition rather than a celebration of design as I feel it has been up till December.

Designers have a variety of styles & limiting the competition like this perhaps squishes the chances of really good designs being printed…eg: a really girly design would not be chosen if the majority of voters are guys (who may buy the T for their girlfriend)??

Now, not only can I not have a REALLY great T-Shirt that lots of people also loved (Heaven to Hades), but I am also feeling as if its not really worth my time to spend time on the site / enter competitions.

Perhaps there should be a poll on the home page for the designers & buyers to vote…?

Anyhow…that’s my 2c
