Just when you thought it was safe to go back to the playground!

I’m sure most of you would have heard about the tragic killing of a school boy yesterday when a masked matric student dressed in a ninja suit and wielding a katana went on a rampage.

This kind of attack isn’t exactly a new thing, it happens all over the world and in a country like ours where weapons are easily accessible the possibility of something going wrong is pretty damn high.
This time the students of Nic Diederichs Technical High School were the ones to be exposed to this kind of tragedy.
The matric student apparently slashed a boy that died across the throat with his samurai sword and then went berserk, stabbing another student and injuring two gardeners.
Honestly it’s a “miracle” that more people never lost their lives…a sword is a terribly lethal weapon and in the right hands can be devastating…luckily it seems as if the young boy was just a “normal” novice.

So what possessed the boy to go on a killing spree? “Satan made me do it”, was the reply from the twit like shadow warrior.
Come on buddy at least try and give a good reason for taking another person’s life….Satan had nothing to do with this one folks…although I’m sure he doesn’t mind taking the credit.
Supposedly the police were at the boy’s house and found Slipknot music on his computer….GASP gimme a break, like that means anything….I listen to metal and the last thing I want to do is kill somebody.

We hear the same old crap every year, people blame video games and heavy metal for insane suicidal/murderous kiddies.
I’m afraid the problem is far greater that a choice of tunes boys and girls.
So what now, what do u do with an under aged sword wielding psychopath? Lock him up in juvenile, commit him to a loony bin for emotion engineering?
Well all I know is that there is a court hearing for today or tomorrow where he will be tried for murder and attempted murder…should they even bother with assault?
Dude this lightie is up sh*t creek without a paddle, enjoy your life my man….and to think he was almost out of high school, which may well have been half the problem.

In the past few years school violence has been on the increase in South Africa and there seems to be no stopping it.
Inn the very same high school there is talk of one of the teachers that disciplines the students with a taser….I frigging taser dude, they are kids not cattle.
Another from the school filed an assault charge against another student for choking her son when he wanted to get him off a computer…geez didn’t his mother ever tech him to wait his turn.
Something needs to be done in a big way, but who do we turn to for support…government aid group’s maybe? What do they know about these kids…every single one is different and experiencing a different problem….does that then mean that the parents have to step up and take the heat?
In many cases it’s not the parents that are messed up…it’s just that the kid has a serious psychological problem.

Also what stereotype are they going to fit this guy into….the tool arrived in a ninja suit wielding a katana, which is a samurai sword….shall we then call him a “ninurai” or perhaps a “samuinja”….confusing indeed.
