Original t-shirt design - in your dreams!

shoutOut on 2/6/09 by Lokololly in peeps

I had such a vivid dream last night! It will be on my mind all day!

I’ve already researched what it means at DreamMoods.com to try get it off my mind. Although what I found there only aggravated it more! HAHA! Murphey’s Law!

There are many people who never dream at all, or at least never remember their dreams. Some only dream about interacting with people they know, and some dream about people they’ve never seen before. People’s dreams can be re-occuring or random. It is said that when a dream is re-occuring there is an issue in the person’s life that hasn’t been confronted or is unresolved.

Those of us who are able to dream – and remember them – should treasure them!

There are many artists who use their dreams as inspiration. Many fashion designers get their inspiration from dreams too. What’s so amazing about using a dream for inspiration of your design, is that it is a pure product of your imagination.

Your work will always be an original design if you design it based it on something you envisaged in a dream. Sure, similar dreams can be dreamed by two people, but the way you interpret the illustration onto paper or digitally can never be the same as another artists’ visual interpretation of the same dream.

Yeondoo Jung a South Korean photographer has a totally different take on the interpretation of dreams into art. One way he uses dreams in his work is by studying images and explanations of children’s dreams to fuel his photography projects.

His interpretation of the child’s dream gets reworked into what he imagines the child saw in his or her dreams. This particular project was carried out in 2005 and it was named Wonderland

If he made my dream into a photograph I’d sure be honoured, I doubt it would be as pretty a sight as this one though!

Something I noticed about all his photo’s is the immense effort put in, trying to get every photo as similar to the child’s art as possible. If you take a look at his Wonderland photography you will notice the apparel worn by the subjects in his art is also shows some extremely cool fashion!

So there you are t-shirt designers. Don’t know what your next t-shirt design will be based on? Try using your dreams as a reference! That’s something we’re all looking to wear- an original t-shirt design!

That is so amazing! I got goosebumps when I read about Yeondoo Jung’s work. Thats such an awesome thing to do… how clever! The recreation of the child’s drawing is done so well – uber talented to take what could be impossible in real life and to stretch the limits of creativity to produce a work like that. The photography is so random but has such an off the wall energy. Love it!
