Pure Imagination - School campaign

shoutOut on 24/3/09 by josiestewart in wordUp

SPRINGLEAP.COM and the AAA School of Advertising are inviting all high school pupils in Cape Town and Johannesburg to take part in the Pure Imagination campaign.

What’s it All ABOUT:

The PURE IMAGINATION campaign is aimed at creating awareness for high school students about the chance to build a bright future without drugs.

The AAA School of Advertising will be awarding the winners of the T-shirt design and marketing competition a three year tuition free bursary each.

Creativity is what we’re looking for and if you’re heading toward a future where fame and fortune is a reality this is the opportunity you’ve been waiting for!

We want you to EXPLODE with PURE IMAGINATION and turn your inner imaginative world into the most awesome T-shirt designs ever!

Our aim? To promote raw talent and provide a vibrant and meaningful platform for youth to turn their dreams into a reality.

How it works:
To enter the competition you need to be a team of two. One designer. One marketer.

The designer needs to submit a t-shirt design to the competition, if it is digitally created, the design should be submitted to the Springleap.com website.

If it is hand drawn, submit it to your teacher. The marketer’s function will be to promote the design ‘product’. The marketer will do whatever they can to get people to vote for their team’s design. For example: making posters, creating Facebook groups and creating a buzz around the team’s design.

The overall winners of the competition will be based on the amount of votes their design receives worked into an average. The design with the highest average on the official Springleap.com website at the very end of the comeptition wins. That means, the more people the team gets to register on the Springleap.com site and vote for their design, the greater their chance of winning.

Dates to remember:
Hand drawn designs to be submitted before 30th June 2009.
Computer generated designs to be submitted before 30th June 2009.
Voting starts on 07th July 2009. Voting ends on 07th August 2009.
The winning team will be announced on 13th August 2009.

All designs must adhere to the Springleap.com design submission rules
and regulations or they will be disqualified. You can download the Springleap t-shirt template kit

The winners will be chosen according to the amount of votes their design receives on the official Springleap.com website.

Marketing and design guidelines

For the marketers’ hand book on how to market a t-shirt design, please contact Eran Eyal: eran@springleap.com

Entries will not be accepted if they do not meet the following requirements.

Specifications for digital submissions and hand drawn submissions:
1. NO company names, personal names, signatures, email addresses or URLs are allowed on your design – don’t worry, your name will feature on the back of your T-shirt if you are one of the winners.
2. Only ORIGINAL works are accepted. No copy written material may be used either. If you steal someone else’s design your design will be rejected and the offended artist will be notified.
3. Inappropriate creations will be rejected. The idea behind Springleap.com is that of empowerment and upliftment. We have really open minds – but outright profanity or absolutely tasteless offensive images are not cool.
4. You must first select one of the formats from the Springleap.com Submission Kit as well as a T-shirt colour from the 12 possible colour options provided therein. This will become your design’s background colour.
5. Duplicate entries will be rejected. For example: if you submit the same design in different colours or on different colour backgrounds, one will be rejected by us. We will also reject a design if you have submitted it twice with very minor changes from one to the other.

Colours:
Only 7 unique colours may be used. Whilst we give the opportunity to use 7 colours, most often we find that 3-5 colour designs look the best. Balancing 7 different colours can be quite a task. Please do not submit photos or full colour pictures as designs.

Specifications for digital design submissions:
1. You cannot submit paintings or photos unless they have been vectorised.
2. Representations of well-known persons will also be rejected due to copyright infringement. You can only design on the FRONT of the T-shirt.
3. Your design cannot touch the hems, collar or sleeves.
4. Designs can be up to 38×50cm – this is the standard screenprinting size.
5. You will need to submit a thumbnail 124 pixels wide by 88 pixels high. Please keep the file size under 100kb. It can be submitted as a GIF, JPG or PNG format. Save images at 150dpi.
6. You will need to submit a large preview image 640 pixels wide by 800 pixels high. Please keep the file size under 260kb. It can be submitted in GIF, JPG or PNG formats. Please save images at 150dpi.Please make sure that the background colour for your large preview image is the same colour as your T-shirt colour you choose.
7. You will also need to submit a T-shirt preview image that is 600 pixels wide by 600 pixels high. Please keep the file size under 260kb. It can be submitted in GIF, JPG or PNG formats. Please do not change the gradient background provided and keep only to the T-shirt colour options provided. All you need to do is convert the file to one of the formats allowed. Do not resize the T-shirt image provided. Please save images at 150dpi.

Specifications for hand drawn designs:
1. The image must be to scale, meaning the design must be the size you want it on the T-shirt.
2. You must specify the T-shirt colour and where the image will be placed on the T-shirt.
3. You must be registered on the Springleap.com website and provide your Springleap username, email address and other contact details along with your hand drawn submission.

Please make sure your design meets all the relevant requirements and is handed into the designated teacher before the 27th April 2009. The school should send all hand drawn designs to the Springleap.com offices by 28th April 2009.

Paul Simon did a great radio interview yesterday morning on SAFM around 11h20 SA Time.

It was a rocky start with the SAFM DJ introducing Paul as “Paul Simon” from YDEOUCH! Bit of a boo boo there!

But Paul handled the slipup really well, stating that he has nothing to do with YDE anymore – For those not in the loop – Paul founded the famous YDE chain of fashion stores (Young Designers Emporium) which is widespread throughout SA. About 3 years ago he sold the chain to the WoolTru group who own Woolworths, Truworths and others for an undisclosed sum.

Today Paul works with Springleap, which he joined earlier this year as a Director and investor.

Paul did a great job of breaking down the Pure Imagination campaign for the listeners and made some excellent points.

In this economy, Springleap and the AAA School of Advertising are really offering an AMAZING reward for young learners Grade 10-12 – The winners will not only have a major advantage in having secured their tertiary education at one of the most prestigious academies in South Africa, but will also be a real boon to their parents, alleviating over R125 000 of fees over the next 3 years. That’s pretty staggering stuff.

I am really excited to see what amazing designs and innovative marketing come to bear for this campaign.

Imagination in SPADES!

shoutBack on 31/3/09 by gspott43

Hay Gspott,

Unfortunately we can’t allow any one out of high school to enter as they may have an unfair advantage over the high school students.

Sorry but we will be running other campaigns later on in the year .

Cheers

Josie

yep, on a gap year at the moment, so not studying anything.

shoutBack on 27/3/09 by gspott43

Hi Gspott,

Are you currently studying marketing or design?

IF you are on a gap year, we might allow you to enter but I have to first get approval from the other competition sponsors.

So watch this space and I will get back to you

Josie – over to you to answer…

shoutBack on 27/3/09 by Eric

Could you still enter if you finished high school last year and partnered with someone else currently in high school?
