When I go through the designs, the order which they are displayed in the thumbnails/expanded view seem to be pretty random, right? I understand that it’s probably like that for fairness, but I find myself hitting the same designs over and over again if I haven’t voted for everything I see, which is (I guess) the point – to have everyone vote for everything. But it doesn’t seem to be so clear – so that some people might not see every thing cos they don’t vote on every piece of work. Anyone else feel this way? |

we didn’t want the first ones to be random and then in a set order for EVERYONE’s computer, as that means certain designs would get more exposure than others. but they really shouldn’t be repeating over and over again. we’re looking into it…

If I may make a suggestion: at the start of the month the thumbnails are randomly assigned to a couple pages. Every day these pages cycle as being the first to appear when you click on ‘vote for designs’ so there’s no randomization. This will ensure that you don’t get doubles when scrolling through the pages, and its a lottery as to where and on what page your thumbnail appears. Perhaps the thumbnails that appear on the front page can be random, or simply display a couple sets every day on rotation. Its either that or getting someone to code some extra stuff that makes sure the randomization code stops giving you doubles, cause at the moment, sometimes thumbnails just stick there for a few pages and then reappear later. Doh. The code could run for as long as you’re looking at the voting page. When you exit, the code resets itself for the next time you visit.

Just tried it out now. Seems like a lot of designs stay when I click next. They’re in different positions, but often I get duplicates over numerous pages. Very frustrating. There should be a way to make sure that when you click the right arrow to see NEXT that you don’t see thumbnails that have already appeared on previous pages. Takes forever to find new designs this way, scrolling until you hit a lucky randomization and find a design you haven’t seen.

Same here. Sometimes I get the same design (usually a whack one) appearing on all the gallery pages. Sometimes I don’t see a design right till the very end of the month. Seems like it appears from nowhere.

it’s meant to be 100% random. do you guys feel that something in the algo is missing a beat? or is it just luck that some designs are showing up more than others? i’ll chat to our developers again (already spoken to them about this issue) and see if they can find any reason why this is happening

I agree, the gallery navigation definately needs improvement. I have been on a couple of times browsing and see new designs every time, so I keep refreshing. I have also seen my own design only once.

Definitely frustrating when going through the gallery and the same same(see what I mean) thumbnail keeps on popping up. Some designs pop up more often than others do and others only once when browsing through the gallery.
