Yesterday I gave David Hasselfoff a big highfive for his appearance at the Loeries awards 2011 over the weekend.

However it is totally unfair that he gets all of the heavenly glory…I smack my hand for such noobish behaviour.

It would be an absolute travesty if I left out the local flava that has set the blogo-twit-sphere ablaze with likes and all around gut-busting laughter.
I’m of course talking about the guest appearance of Riaan Cruywagen.

Seriously, it is impossible to deny the awesomness that is our own local news reading vampire.
Riaan Cruywagen has been around for…ummmm, when did Bartholomew Diaz rock up? LOL.
This man has been a legend in his own right in South Africa for quite some time.

It seems like everyone knows him as this unflinching robot person with no emotion…which is pretty funny considering he looks similar to Data from Star Trek LOLZ.

Just recently he added his power to the marketing campaign in what has been hailed as one of the best Loerie awards ‘build ups’...EVER!

The Loerie ad shows Riaan talking in his normal deadpan manner in what appears to be the studio but as it zooms out it shows him sitting in a Jacuzzi with loads of hot babes.

This is what he says: “Hi, I’m Riaan Cruywagen and, if you’re like me, you hate bad advertising, like those ones that make you leave the room or stare into the distance”.
“But if you want to watch really great advertisements, watch the 33rd annual Loerie Awards on Selimathunzi, Wednesday the 21st September at 6.30, for adverts that make you go ‘Wow’, ‘OMG’ and LOL’.”
“So from me Riaan Cruywagen...don’t be a hater, yo.”

This was just too damn funny. I loved how it took all the most stereotypical aspects of “bad television” and wrapped them all into one clever advert. Great work!

It concludes with with Riaan sitting with a pineapple cocktail where he simply states, “I’m in a jacuzzi.”

Classic! Very much in the vein of the Old Spice ads….you know, the “I’m on a horse” one :P

Riaan you rock SA to the core dude!
