Rocking the Daisies 2008.

shoutOut on 18/8/08 by DuncanBoxie in peeps

Hi there all.

This message goes out to all the rockers out there.
Local bands have a hard time…no doubts there, booking gig’s, getting labels to listen to listen to their demo’s…it’s been the same old story since…forever.
However there is a cool idea that has up and coming bands moshing for joy and passing out from headaches of “too much excitement”.
Rocking the Daisies in collaboration with Red Bull bring you RADAR which is a competition where you vote for your favourite band on their website, RADAR then takes the 4 highest rated bands and they get a ticket to compete at the Pushing the Daisies Festival 2008.

So, how can you help these awesome bands out?
Easy Peasy…cruise to their website and tick the box of your choice on the right hand side.
If you can’t simply look at the band names and know which is the one for you, then there is a handy lil button that gives you taste of their music style…very nice very nice.
I gave all the bands a listen to and they are all very unique and show promise.
If I had to choose I’d have to say Cat String Theory was my favourite.
But give it a listen…one man’s early morning stroll is another man’s hangover.

The Pushing the Daisies festival has grown in its popularity and last year the Festival drew over 5000 revellers, this year will undoubtedly be even better.
As for the line up, it looks out of this world:
Dirty Skirts, 7th Son, Fire through the window, Goldfish, Taxi Violence and Eagle Eye cherry…..WOW.
If you would like to see the full list, bounce on over to the Band Profiles page.
Obviously the big headliner will be Eagle Eye Cherry, who is ultra famous these days and always finds a way to think up something different and funky.

This year the festival is being held at Cloof Wine Estate from the 03 Oct 2008 to 05 Oct 2008.
The event will be jammed packed full of awesome music as well as great food…being on a wine estate I’m sure there will be a fair share of great wine too.

The overall idea of the festival is to have a mega party…but also to be gentle and one with nature.
It’s a jol that will be fused with high level energy, but with a hippy “hug a tree” twist.
Sounds damn cool right?!
See you there :D

Ok ticket prices are:
FULL WEEKEND – R320 (outlets & online) R370 (outlets & online)
SATURDAY & SUNDAY – R220 (outlets & online) R250 (outlets & online)
SUNDAY – R90 (Door ONLY)

Yeah Goldfish has been kicking mega bum down here in CT, its a shame we will be losing them to Ibiza pretty soon.
You should come down for the jol dude :D

there has been so much said about Goldfish and rightly so,those boys know how to get evryone on the dance floor!
but…the dirty skirts are probably the most underrated band in SA. Jeremy and his crew always put on a rocking show and their unique blend of disco beats mixed in with some electro samples is something that will make any music fan smile!

should be a cracking day out

Sounds great! I dig the South African Rock & Alternative scene. Do you have a link for the website where you get to vote?
