Yo SS It does take a while before you get use to a tablet. I’m still struggling. But the best way to master it is to use it as a mouse as well. Then you will get the feel for it. Actually, that’s what a friend of mine told me. I still prefer to use the mouse for everything.

Hi guys Just to let you all know I have got my Genius 8×6 tablet :) . R700 at Computer Mania (as opposed to R5500 for an equivalent wacom), and its a beaut. I have no complaints. It is a bit of a learning curve, but for the price, man wat a pleasure. Integral, the first piece I’ve done on the tablet is a straight sketch onto the pc, which i am now vectorising. Strangely I find it easier to vector using the standard mouse…does it just take more practice with the tablet?

Does anyone go right to illustrator and start sketching? And then clean the lines up as you go? I think it saves a lot of time if you have a Wacom. I also hate reaching for Ctrl-Z when I am sketching on real paper!

Hey Silver, I got myself the 8×6” MousePen Genius Tablet for about R700 off take2. I chose it because, while it is a bit old, it has 1024 bit pressure sensitivity and a much larger work space than I would otherwise have been able to afford. So far I haven’t had any trouble with it, and it works for both XP and Vista. If you are able to afford a nice Wacom, then I’d say go for it, but if you’re a bit cash strapped like myself, this is really not a bad option. Hope this helps.. =]
