As I approach designers to tell them about springleap, some people have commented that they prefer to stick with threadless as they are “the original”, or the market leaders.

This is kind of lame – I understand the concept that some people have a relationship with Threadless and that is very cool. Especially if they have helped that person in one way or another.

But let’s not forget – Monopolies are trouble, competition rocks. Threadless deserve MASSIVE cred for what they have accomplished and are doing for artists and the evolution of the tshirt medium… but there are some SUPER AMAZING other guys out there who became inspired by the concept and made it their own.

Springleap have done just that. We were really inspired by Threadless, but wanted to do something similar, yet make it our own – so we have some really massive core differences in our model and product, which we believe add REAL VALUE to the artists, the garment industry in South Africa, the retailers, vendors and the consumer.

Springleap is in it’s infancy right now, but we are totally committed at making initiative a success beyond measure for everyone – we are growing the business organically and sustainably, but out aim is to eventually be giving the biggest prizes regularly anywhere on the net.

Our commitment : as we grow – so does the empowerment.

We do a lot of interesting things with the tshirt, here are a couple of examples :

1. The artist’s username and the name of their creation are printed on the back outside of the shirt – giving the artist HUGE exposure, creating a gallery without walls and making every winner and runner up a potential brand unto themselves.

2. Every tshirt has a new positive message inside the tshirt to remind people to be aware of what a beautiful reality we live in

3. The packaging ROCKS!!! (loads of cool goodies within ;) )

4. Our tshirts are manufactured on 100% combed South African Cotton that is impurity free and cut to our special own slim cut pattern.
