Afrolution design write up with souf by DuncanBoxie

Afrolution is one of the funkiest most humorous winners we have ever had on Springleap.com.
This design is crammed full of retro-funk energy and speaks a very unique form of science.

Duncs: What were you thinking when you first started the design?
Robert: Lately I’ve been so fascinated by afros, even busy growing my own fro, that I’ve decided to design something that’s got a fro in it. I started surfing the net one day and came across the evolution of man and decide create a design that shows the evolution of a fro.

Duncs: What was the original concept idea?
Robert: The whole concept behind this idea is to show how hair would evolve into an awesome fro.

Duncs: How long did it take you to complete your piece?
Robert: It took me probably about a day and a half. I usually work fast, but with designs that’s interesting I will definitely take my time and plus I kept it plain and simple so that people can relate to it.

Duncs: Did any other artwork inspire you to create this?
Robert: Not artwork so much but people. Who knew that hair could say so much about a person.

Duncs: Do you think this design reflects your state of mind from when it was created?
Robert: In a way. I’m usually a laid back guy and always try to show that in the work that I do.

Duncs: Is this your normal style or an experiment?
Robert: My normal style. I like vector art and tend to work in Illustrator a lot so most of my work is vectorized.

Duncs: Who do you dedicate this design to?
Robert: To all the peeps out there with fro’s. Keep it real guys. Even to those who don’t have it, give it a try, it might look good on you.

Duncs: If you could change anything in this design what would it be?
Robert: Nothing. I love it the way it is. Plain and simple.

Duncs: What kind of person do you see wearing this design?
Robert: Everyone man. I want everyone to wear this, it will make me the happiest man on this planet.

Duncs: How can art save the world?
Robert: People, make love not war. You probably heard that before, but I mean, why you gotta fight and kill each other. Express yourself through art. Draw, sing, dance, even if you can’t. Stop with the hatred. Let art bring us together as one, plus you can express yourselves better that way. Do me a favor, next time when you feel cross or angry, grab a bucket of paint, go to a wall and just throw the paint at it. You might feel better after that. In the process you might create a great piece of art.
