A closer look at Wright out the sky! with CHUCKY by DuncanBoxie

This is the stunning victor of our fiercly contested The Wright Stuff design competition. In the end CHUCKY’s aerial masterpiece blew the rest of the competition Wright out of the sky ;)

1. What inspired your design?
I would say the inspiration came from clouds, and all the crazy shapes that they can form.

2. Do you think this design sets the tone for the upcoming year?
I think it’s a good start to 2010. I think it will set the tone for all the upcoming artists yet to join the ever growing site in 2010!

3. How long did it take you to complete your design?
To date this is the ones taken me the longest. The design was almost entirely sketched, and the sketching took a hella of a long time, I worked on it over a 2 week period!

4. What makes this design special to YOU?
The fact that it is the most animated, sketchy design I’ve ever created.

5. Do you think this design reflects your state of mind from when it was
created?
When the concept entered my mind I knew exactly what I wanted and I just had to follow through and execute it.

6. Did you step outside your “design comfort zone” when you did this piece?
Sort of. I do like experimenting, but funny enough half way through it I nearly scrapped the whole design because I was struggling to get the plane right, so I had to push myself.

7. What is the first thing that springs to mind when I yell, “SPITFIRE”?
Well, if it was yelled back in WW2 era I think everybody would be ducking or lying on the floor. No, they were pretty mean in those days!

8. If you could change anything in this design what would it be?
I’m normally happy once I submit, so once again nothing!

9. What kind of person do you see wearing this design?
Funky people, I also picture this to be popular with the chicks, for some reason.

10. Where is the last place you expect to see this design?
In extremely rural areas, like a one horse town type thing, I’d be shoooocked!
