Every Springleaper shares a similar experience: We all start as a sapling, that grows and encounters a trial by fire – then, LEAP-ing in leaps and bounds in experience and skillset – growing our own wings from the honing of said skills – and the eventual blast off that being a Springleaper brings. In a dust of magic awesomeness :) Hope you enjoy it!

Sowing the Seeds blew us away this past weekend….literally! Despite the crazy wind, we managed to hold it down in true Springleap style. The lead up to Rocking the Daisies, Sowing the Seeds 2010, was a huge success. The event was set in gorgeous Scarborough at the Cape Farmhouse and was as harmonious as any outdoor music festival should be! For those of you that didn’t make it, I have to say that you missed out. Okay so it was maybe a bit of a drive to get there but it was definitely worth it! Green fields, sunny skies, tasty food, ice cold drinks and bangin’ beats – translation: the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Even though we couldn’t see the bands from where we were at, we definitely heard them! The screams coming from the stage area confirmed that performances were top notch. Gotta love South African music! Despite the fact that the musicians were bringing the crowd to their knees, some managed to dust themselves off and wander to our stall. We met a lot of people who signed up to be Springleapers – and we’re super duper excited to have you as part of our community! The team had a great time – so thanks to of you for the support we One thing’s for sure- T-shirts and terrific tunes are the perfect match. Without a doubt, the festival had a great energy. The setting was perfect and everyone was smiling big time! All in all, it was intimate, cozy. The stage is set for Rocking the Daisies later this year and we eagerly anticipate the next installment from the guys at Complete Events. Their philosophy of ‘Play Hard, Tread Lightly’ was indeed the focus of the day! Big thanks to everyone who showed us much love and to Sowing the Seeds for allowing us to be part of the event! xxx |

You’ll also have the opportunity to do some shopping and sample the local cuisine. 9. Up in the air From hot air balloon rides to skydiving and paragliding -getting up high in the sky is the best way to see Cape Town. The sky’s the limit! 8. Wine tasting Cape Town is home to some of the best vineyards in the the world. The Cape winelands are divided into various different wine growing regions, each offering their own wine route. The most popular and well-known wine regions were you can enjoy wine tasting in Cape Town are Constantia, Stellenbosch, Franschhoek, Paarl, Robertson and Wellington. R.I.P 8 Bit Is Dead! I saw the old 8Bit console and thought it resembled a grave site, the cartridge being the headstone, So though I’d make an image of it, throwing in some grass and dirt, earthworms as the controller cable as well a keeping the buttons and eject lever. The theme for the illustration was quite fitting as technology is always on the go go, and although people still play the older generation of consoles, it tends to be more of a 16 bit vibe now. |

A 5 step approach to get your girl into gaming shoutOut on 7/4/10 by amyabrahams in wordUp | on 13/4/10 by amyabrahams |

We all know that gaming takes up a lot of your precious time- and your girlfriend may be giving you grief for spending that time in front of the telly instead of with her. And for all we know, once you get yourself invested in a game- your sex life is likely to suffer. So I’ve devised a little 5 step plan to get your gal involved in your gaming life. This way, you get to spend time with her by having an intense,fast-paced multi-player experience (hey! Get your mind out the gutter!) This approach is a full-proof way of having a happy relationship by integrating your gaming life into a shared pass time for you and your loved one! 1.Start with something easy. As a non-gamer myself, those fancy remote controls with all those buttons can be awfully intimidating. Choose a game that she can really get into- one that you can control the level of difficulty. If you start off with something she can enjoy, she’ll be addicted in no time at all. 2.Have patience Remember, even if you’re a natural, there was a time when you were pretty clueless. Be willing to explain everything and anything about the game. Believe me; a caring attitude will pay dividends. Rome wasn’t built in a day! Remember you can always start over if she screws up. If you show her that you are tolerant, she’ll be raving to all her friends about her long-suffering man that never complains. Hey- you’ll be a hero! 3.Know the girl gamer and pick games carefully If your girl is the kind that covers her eyes during the scary parts of a movie, something like Resident Evil may not be the best place to start. 4.Be willing to stop and take a break whenever she wants to I know you are wondering how on earth someone would want to take a break from a game- you can probably list only a handful of times when you’ve been against the idea of playing a game. But hey, if she’s new at it, the challenge may seem somewhat overwhelming at first. Make it clear to her that the whole fun of it is the fact that she is playing with you. So go easy! 5.Keep her in the game! It’s really no fun at all to watch other people having all the fun when you’re watching from the sidelines. If you’re playing a game where one player can lose/die, devote as much time as possible to getting her back in the game. Or just reload the level if this isn’t possible. Think about it- she isn’t going to be interested for long if she keeps losing. It’s logic really. Read up on FAQ’s online for suggestions on how to boost certain characters. She’s most likely going to overwhelmed at first, so show your supportive side and you’ll reap the rewards. These are just some tips to get your gal to join you when you’re having fun, but at the end of the day each of us is different. Just keep your cool and remember that she’s new at this. Basically, all you can hope for is that she gets a better understanding of your hobby. If you succeed, the two of you will most likely connect even more, and the whole experience may take your relationship to a new level. Or it could totally backfire. Hey, what do I know! A sure fire way to make amends if the whole thing turns ugly is to buy her a Springleap T-shirt Good luck and happy gaming!
