Don’t go phishing!

it could end up like this :

OUCH!

Yup.. internet fraud has many faces and the phishing e-mail fraud is one of the most rife and deadly.

Here is an example of one I received this morning supposedly from ABSA - One of South Africa’s biggest banks.

So what is Phishing? Here is the classic Wikipedia definition of this Internet Banking fraud.

Basically it’s criminals seeking to extract your banking details (such as your PIN and CSV) for the nefarious purpose of cleaning you out - hence they are phishing for your Internet banking details. It’s a horrible type of fraud that often ends with people looking like Edward Sissorhands fiddling with the electrics.

Shame.

So what should you look for? What are the classic signs of phishing e-mails?

Well for starters, remember that Internet Banking is supposed to be VERY secure… So no bank is going to send you an e-mail telling you to send your details in or will link to their site asking you to login for some reason like this or another.

Have a look at the phishing e-mail I got from “ABSA” as inserted above :

notice that the link goes to aabssaa.com? Yeah right. Why not ABSA.co.za? Because it’s a FRAUD.

See the sutle little hook they have with how you can save cash? That’s cause whenever these criminals go Phishing - there’s always a hook

So before you run out and click on every link in your e-mails, stay savvy and skeptical. It’s a dangerous world out there for the unaware.

On the lighter side of Phishing… here is the phonejacker with a more… frivolous side of the scam

and once again here with a classic Fonejacker funny prank where he tries to get the sort code and account number for some Brit who KNOWS it’s a phishing scam but carries on chatting - unbelievable!

This is another fave of mine from the Fonejacker. Apparently they discover a Ugandan Pigeon in someone’s bank account. HE ACTUALLY GOT IT!!! Really - he successfully get’s the details! OUCH!

And finally - probably my favorite of all the Fonejacker phishing scams is the PRESSED AND STEAMED banking fraud call. This one will have you in stitches. Guaranteed.

Know what you mean - back when we had eSquared one of our guys running the Durban based store had one of his pals hack his account and relpace his profile pic with 2 latino boys getting it on. Over a log. With sandles. And replaced the face of the lad on the bottom, with his face. Ouch. Bad news.

But that’s not phishing - it’s just plain hacking.

Phishing is more when you receive an e-mail asking you to log in and put your details on a fraudulent portal - thereafter they either bulk mail your friends or really mess your account up.

See, by bulk mailing your friends they have the credibility to spread the scam far and wide quickly by catching people unawares

Dude, there are all kinds of otha Phishing scams. Like Facebook.

One chik I knew had her ex bf break into her account and post all kinds of crap about her and erase messages to other guys. Really ruined her relationship with some peeps.

Rabobi, Rabobi, blah blah blah, blah. I cannot remember the rest of the song, but I do remember the tv playing the song over and over on SABC 2. I like the design, I like the intoxicatingly bright red, and I lke the pro-South African attitude.

To me this design is not that original…sorry. But considering colour schemes and text styles this is done well. I personally won’t wear it but hey there will be people that dig it. :)The vintage effect syle is pretty cooly done. how would this *design have looked on a black Tee?? I think cool.

just in case the americans are wondering this is a bit of an “in” joke in south africa. in the eighties they dubbed spiderman into zulu and or xhosa with fantastically surreal results. all the kids at school were singing “rabobi rabobi“to the tune of spiderman

Nice. Would definitely wear this, but are you (and the Springleap guys) sure you can get away with the copyright on this one? Marvel is now owned by Disney, and they got some of the meanest copyright lawyers ever to walk the earth. Just be careful… would hate to see springleap in legal trouble.

I don’t think you need to change a thing, all the detail is perfect, even the warning at the bottom. I’d love to see what other toy concepts like this you can come up with. This is the kind of design that Mr. Price would steal from a top brand and say, “hey, lets rip that off”. cool design, dig it.

Good job CHUCKY love the T-shirt design...All the “add on’s” compliments the figure being represented. Your colour scheme which you chose is also perfect considering the background you chose. GREAT JOB AGAIN!! Only problem for me is that the image/design could’ve been a tiny bit larger on the Tee, if you know what i mean.I never saw one of these guys with a sad looking face like that before..HAHA..real cool!!

I think the Fall out Toy kinda adds to the design personally. I would have left out the warning label and 0-3 indicator though. The “Emo” is enough.
